Windstar touts a private event on every sailing. In the Caribbean it is a private island experience in St. Lucia. Of course you are free to explore St. Lucia as you with either independently or with a shore excursion offered through Windstar.

We opted to do our travel agent due diligence and inspect the new Royalton St. Lucia, an outstaying all-inclusive resort only a few minutes cab ride from Pigeon Island. Trying to balance continuing education and fun here folks. It was well worth the effort and we hustled back to the private event so as to experience it as well.

​

Windstar offers a more limited menu of excursions here, obviously to allow guests to enjoy the free Beach BBQ Party they put on. However, among the excursion options are, a Rainforest Canopy Adventure, Rainforest Hike & River Pool, Golf, and a gondola experience at the Aerial Tram park which whisks you to through the rainforest to a mountaintop.

Pigeon Island is located within a National Park. If you leave the park just inform the person at the gate on your return you are on Windstar and you are not charged to enter. Cabs are available as soon as you reach the end of the park.

The Wind Surf arrived in St. Lucia at 8am and tenders are available soon after to the island for those doing excursions are doing their own thing as we did. The beach actually opens at 10am for the Private Event.

So what is this Private Island event? Windstar does it up right. By the time guests arrive lounge chairs and shade umbrellas are all set up and waiting for you. At 11:30 there was a yoga class on the beach if you wanted to stretch and get rid of stress. Stress? And the staff had water sports equipment available to use - snorkel gear, paddle boards, kayaks, wind surf boards, etc.

A delicious all you care to eat BBQ buffet is served beginning at noon until 2pm, and of course it's included just as if you were onboard. Drinks are available for purchase, also just as though you were onboard. And the typical included soft drinks and bottled water are available complimentary.

The last tender returns to the ship at 4:30. Then we pull out from our beautiful private beach spot sailing past sailboats and the Sandals Grande St. Lucian out to sea. Within 30 minutes the daily Sail Away has begun and the white sails are hoisted under mostly sunny skies. Mountainous St. Lucia serves as a splendid backdrop to our sailing yacht as we sail along the coast before moving out to sea and heading toward our next exciting Caribbean port.

We dined at the exclusive Stella Bistro tonight. This indoor French inspired restaurant features upscale French favorites - French Onion Soup, Escargot, and a lengthy menu of sensational selections. This is a perfect night to pair wine with dinner. But save room - the desserts are amazing!

Along with Candles (on deck dining), Stella Bistro are the "Specialty Dining" options. However with Windstar they are complementary and every guest is entitled to dine at each one night.

Tonight's entertainment combined two popular activities - Beatles music and Martini specials. Welcome to Beatles Tribute & martini party, aft on the Main Deck. Both onboard bands combine efforts performing hits from the Beatles while a wide variety of Martinis are available for $7.75.  Of course Mellow Yellow performs nightly from 10:30 until ... in the Compass Room.
